We started off with Friendx.com recognising the potential that there’s a growing demand from our local population. A content and community platform built by local tailored to local interest and needs. After a mere 3 years of launch, to date FriendX.com has over 120,000 registered users. This would definitely be the place to be for hang-out if you wish to meet new local friends and to expand your social network locally.

Users are encourages to upload their own photos to the profile page, which allow other users to know who they are connecting with. Users can also upload latest photos to share their experiences with friends such as the places they have been to, things they have seen and so on. This is a way for users and their friends to communicate with each other without meeting up frequently. Other than that, users can write a blog and post it to share with everyone on their view or perspective on a specific article which they have came across. This is a good way for those that prefer writing as a way to express their feelings. Users can also start and build up their own clubs to attract new friends which share the same interest too.

FriendX.com has a few unique features introduced; (1) ‘Hall Of Fame’, which allow members to vote for their favourite members which they support. The results are 20 top male and female members which become the site most popular member’s in the week. This ranking will be calculated on a weekly basis according to votes submitted by FriendX.com users.

Other unique features introduced; (2) ‘Avatar’, is a new funny and exciting representative of yourself online. Users will be given a room for them to decorate; users can purchase furniture, cloths, hair styles, accessories, pets and many more. Users will have two options to gain the point in-order to purchase the items above. Either thru direct purchase (similar to pre-paid) the points upfront, or subsequently users have the option of follow the recommendation by FriendX.com to earn the points for FREE. One of the interesting thing users can explore with are the ‘Festive Theme’, users will be able to decorate their online home with festive goods and accessories from FriendX.com avatar catalogue. As part of FriendX.com efforts to rewards its users, there are constant movies contest and free goodies given out for active participants.

FriendX.com is currently running on MatchLX (version 4.0) platform, and the next version is planned for second quarter 2007. FriendX.com foresees this continuous upgrade is essential and required for the growth of FriendX.com. According to Harris/Alloy the nature or friendships have changed over the years. The surveyed result shows more then one-third of teens had at least one friend they interact with online but never meet in person.
